The Daptone releases — including “This Feeling I Get”
— took Doug Shorts music further than he ever imagined.
This song almost never made it out. Doug Shorts had the idea for “Heads or Tails” years ago but the song was never released. Fast forward to the Daptone Records sessions — time was tight, pressure was on.
So Doug went back to that old idea… Heads or Tails.
“Hot Potato” is a Nigerian Afro-Boogie inspired banger.
Doug describes his love interest: “She’s a rump shaker, I knew it from the start, the kind of girl you reel in…then she’ll tear your heart apart”.
